Rapid Diagnostics
Our rapid strep test provides results in just a few minutes. If the rapid test is negative but symptoms strongly suggest strep, we can send a throat culture to the lab for a more comprehensive PCR analysis.
Symptoms
It can be hard to tell the difference between a viral sore throat and strep throat. You should consider getting tested if you experience any of the following symptoms:
Severe throat pain, pain when swallowing, fever, swollen and red tonsils (sometimes with white patches), swollen lymph nodes in the neck, and tiny red spots on the roof of the mouth. (Note: Cough and runny nose are usually NOT present with strep).
